Party Pies can be filled with the worst additives, let’s look at a couple of brands I found in the supermarket shall we…  On the box it say’s 100% meat giving the illusion it’s all 100% meat, but when you look at the ingredients there’s only 12% or 22% depending on these brand.

Both of these party pies contain MSG, yes MSG may be hidden in Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein and the awful additive 160b.  Patties even chuck in a bit of 150c artificial food colour caramel too!

Flavour Enhancers may cause headaches, dizziness, irritability and emotional meltdowns while 160b (the additive that Tracey and I hate the most) is also linked to headaches, head banging, restlessness, hyperactivity, sleep disturbance and more.  It’s a hideous additive and something none of us meed to be eating!

So give our party pies a go yourself then let us know what you think.

Linked Recipe – Bone Broth Powder

Dice onion, carrot and mushrooms. Add olive oil to a frying pan and cook them off until wilted and soft.

Add mince, mixed herbs and salt & pepper. Cook off until browned all over. While that's cooking, in a cup mix together corn flour, bone broth powder and water.

Once meat is browned, add the gravy mix and stir through mince until it's thickened into a mince pie mixture. Turn off and set aside.

Pre-heat oven to 200C and grease pie dishes with some butter.

Lay a sheet of short crust pastry in the bottom of your pie dish, fill with mince and put a puff pastry disk on top. Squish the edges of pastry together so it doesn't come open in the oven. Brush with egg wash and cook for 20 minutes or until done.
